Meet the Author

Toot Fairy Tales is the debut children’s book, written and illustrated by Staffordshire-based mum of two, Lucy Chaplin.
With a long history of starting (and never quite finishing) works of adult fiction, Lucy assumed the Toot Fairy would be another idea that fluttered in and out of her head. But this time, the idea stuck. Silly little rhymes kept bubbling up - until she finally began writing them down. When she shared them with family and friends, the laughter began.
Before long, she had filled pages with Toot Fairy Tales - but the Toot Fairy still needed a face. Despite a love of fine art and a career in graphic design, illustrating a book felt daunting. For a while, the Toot Fairy lived only in notebooks and untitled Google Docs. Then came the Inktober challenge, which sparked Lucy’s confidence and pushed her to give it a go.
It wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t quick, but with encouragement from her husband and her Nan, Lucy FINALLY did it - she FINALLY finished a writing project. And now, after much dilly-dallying to get this website ready, she is thrilled to share it with you.
You can keep up with Lucy and all the latest goings on with the Toot Fairy over on Instagram.

What Makes the Toot Fairy and her tales special?
Making Story Time Fun -
For Everyone
This book isn't just fun for kids, adults love it too!
Lucy set out to create a book that kids would love with vivid illustrations and things to spot on every page, fun facts and stats to keep them coming back time and time again.
But just as important - Lucy wanted to make the story fun for grown ups too. She even took the step of taking the first draft to an open mic event and testing it out on a crowd of strangers.
An Unforgettable New
Fairy Tale Hero
Don't let her looks put you off
She may look a little bit... odd, but the Toot Fairy is your friend. In fact without her, there would be alot less magic in the world, and a whole lot more stink.
Making magic
Beside writing and illustrating, Lucy has always loved to make things. Which is why making a physical model of the Toot Fairy was one of the first things Lucy did while creating the book. The first Toot Fairy looks a little different to the model that now travels around with Lucy to events.
